Dr. Sorhus
Doctor of Dental Surgery
Dr. Jeremy Sorhus is a native of the Pacific Northwest having spent most of his formative years in Oregon, and although Oregon was always home-base, his fathers’ career took him all over the world, and by the age of 12 was a bona-fide world traveler. He lived in Yemen for two years and spent considerable time in Europe and the Middle East. He has also spent several years in Central America – most notably in Nicaragua. He speaks fluent Spanish and was fluent in Arabic, although according to him, he has lost a great deal of that because there are few people to converse with in the US.
Following high school graduation in Philomath, Oregon, Dr. Sorhus attended Oregon State University and later transferred to Rick’s College to finish up an associate’s degree. Immediately after there, he transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, UT and earned a BS in Geography with minors in Chemistry, Biology, and Humanities.
For post-graduate work Dr. Sorhus chose to go to Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, IN where he graduated with several honors and awards and graduated with top marks in all his clinical boards. While in dental school, Dr. Sorhus also won several awards for dental research he did on teeth whitening, including earning the Dentsply Student Clinician of the year honors for the research.
After graduation from dental school, Dr. Sorhus immediately started private practice in Great Falls, MT and enjoyed a thriving practice there, and sold it after being in the Montana area for 7+ years. He has always maintained a curiosity for Alaska and used this opportunity to relocate up to this great state. He is a proud father of 6 beautiful children and enjoys spending time with them outdoors in the wilds of Alaska. He is particularly fond of snow machining, golf, and mountain biking up to a mountain lake to go fly-fishing.
Dr. Guth
Doctor of Dental Surgery
Dr. Guth grew up in Kasilof as a 4th generation outfitter and fishing guide on the Iliamna and Nushagak river systems. As you can imagine he holds in high regard, enjoys, and has a deep respect for the Alaskan wildlife, outdoors, and its communities. His parents and upbringing have afforded him a strong character that relies upon honesty, integrity, and a determined hard work ethic. This foundation is a great strength he continued to build upon as he went to serve the people of Peru during a 2 year church mission.
Undergraduate took Dr. Guth to BYU Hawaii and the realization quickly hit that studying on the beach is very counterproductive. Despite the sometimes poor choice in study environment, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Biomedical Science and Biochemistry Minor. He attests to the fact that more importantly, he found the love of his life in Hawaii, whom he later married. After continued discovery of where his talents, abilities, and interests lie; the Guth’s made the move to Salt Lake City to attend Roseman University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine, where Dr. Guth graduated with top scores both in the didactic and clinical courses.
When asked about his return to Alaska he states, “I find myself in the fortunate and incredible circumstance of giving back to the people of my hometown, who have watched and helped me grow. It’s my turn to say thank you, by doing all I can to promote good oral health through educating and delivery of dental needs to all those who step foot into River City Dental”
Sheri Koziczkowski
Dental Hygienist
She moved to Alaska just after graduation and continued her education and licensure with Local Anesthetic Permit, Nitrous Oxide permit and certification in laser use. She has been a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association since 1991. She continues her education to better understand how complicated the human body is and how it affects dental health. Her life experiences have created a very special affection for treating the dental needs of oncology patients.
Sheri loves the small town life of Kenai and the mountains of Alaska, she enjoys hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and spending time outdoors.
Brittany Castagno
Dental Hygienist
Brittany earned her degree in Dental Hygiene from Missouri Southern State University where she developed a comprehensive understanding of dental anatomy, oral diseases, and effective hygiene techniques.
Known for her gentle touch and compassionate approach, Brittany strives to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients of all ages. She takes the time to educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and personalized dental care routines, empowering them to take control of their dental health.
In addition to performing thorough cleanings and screenings, Brittany is skilled in identifying early signs of dental problems and works closely with the dentist to develop proactive treatment plans. Her commitment to excellence ensures that every patient receives the highest standard of care.
